University of Mandalay (UM)

University of Mandalay (UM) is the second-largest university in Myanmar. The paramount aim of UM is to (strive towards the emergence of) be a leading National Research University. University has 20 Art and Science Departments offering a variety of diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs following the local needs. According to the survey conducted by the National Education Policy Commission of Myanmar, UM was ranked first among arts and science universities of Myanmar in 2017.

Commission's assessments were based upon the qualities of research, faculty training, student wellness, teaching, and management system. Up to now, UM also has educational collaborations with 42 universities from Asia, America, and Europe and already signed 45 MoUs with some prominent Asian and European Universities.

There have been much collaborative researches in UM. The Department of Geography is collaborating with Cologne University, Germany and the Department of Geology has joint researches with Oxford University, United Kingdom.
