On the 21st May 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU gave a workshop to budding entrepreneurs from the Center for Inclusive Innovation & Entrepreneurship - CIIE Myanmar. Participants were introduced to the key concepts of crowdfunding and how they can use it for securing low-cost investment.

On the 28th May 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU gave a workshop to budding entrepreneurs from the Center for Inclusive Innovation & Entrepreneurship - CIIE Myanmar. Participants were introduced to the key concepts of branding and storytelling.

On the 24th May 2022

On the 24th May 2022 the STEPUP team at PYU was invited to Mae Joe University, Chiang Mai, Thailand as part of their TD Young Social Entrepreneurs Project to deliver a workshop on the Social Business Model Canvas.

During August 2022

During August 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU delivered a 45-hour course on Social Entrepreneurship for 25 teachers in Myanmar who will be certified to teach this course as part of Payap University's Certificate Course in Social Entrepreneurship and Community Development.

From the 3 – 27 October 2022

From the 3 – 27 October 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU delivered a 27-hour course for young social entrepreneurs from Myanmar. Topics included an introduction to social enterprises, the value proposition, branding, storytelling and Discovery-Driven Planning

From the 18 – 22 October 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU delivered a 15-hour course for young social entrepreneurs from Myanmar. Topics included Cost Structure, Revenue Generation, Break-even Analysis, Cashflow and Profit Forecasts and Crowdfunding and Impact Investment.

On the 28th September 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU delivered a morning workshop on developing customer and beneficiary centric value propositions for social enterprises.

On the 28th September 2022, the STEPUP team at PYU delivered an afternoon workshop on developing business plans for social enterprises. Participants included local social entrepreneurs as well as PYU students.

On the 29th of September

On the 29th of September, the STEPUP team at PYU hosted a workshop for local social entrepreneurs. The guest speaker, Mr. Pairuch Toewiwat, the CEO of Social Enterprise Chiang Mai (CSME), shared his experiences and provided valuable advice on starting and running a social enterprise.

On the 29th of September, the STEPUP team at PYU hosted a workshop on registering for social enterprise status in Thailand. The Guest speaker, the Director of the Office of Social Enterprise Promotion (OSEP), provided information on the regulations, related laws, and benefits of registering as a social enterprise in Thailand.

Akha Ama Coffee

Miss Pinyapat S. is an MBA student at Payap University, represents the Social Enterprises of Akha Ama Coffee in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The company is a Social Enterprise that produces the coffee beans provided to the coffee shop and collaborative businesses. The Akha Ama Coffee business has seen ever-increasing costs for raw products and producers’ investment costs that have affected the cost of providing service to customers. Therefore, they recognize the need to adjust the value of some coffee products. However, the increase helps them to commit to providing the very best products and services. The challenge of this business is to inspire people in the community to join the coffee farming project to increase community income. The student regards the Case Challenge competition as a great opportunity to learn the best practices of SE businesses in Thailand and present the Thai Social Enterprise to the World.

Doctor Tree

Mr. Wasan T. is an MBA student at Payap University, and represents the Social Enterprises of Doctor Tree in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The company serves the treatment of big trees and historic trees. An arborist is a professional that is well known all over the world, but Thailand just woke up a few years ago. Doctor tree takes care of tree pruning giant trees. The ‘Big Tree School’ was founded by Big Trees, a group of urban people who want to campaign for city people to appreciate and preserve the big trees in the city. The challenge of this business is making the campaign for people’s awareness of the problems from a fallen tree. The student regards the Case Challenge competition as an excellent opportunity to present the service of the Social Enterprise to the World. He is excited to solve cases and learn about Social Enterprises and their challenges.

Elephant Parade

Miss Patcharin I. is an MBA student at Payap University and represents the Social Enterprise of Elephant Parade in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Mosha is the inspiration behind the Elephant Parade. Elephant Parade provides a structural and ongoing source of income for elephant welfare and conservation. In addition, the Social Enterprise produces painted elephant models as decoration and souvenirs. The challenge of this business is giving information about elephants’ needs and making people concerned about elephants. The student regards the Case Challenge competition as an excellent opportunity to be a part of helping the elephants in Thailand.

Forest Landscape

Mr. Natthapong K. is an MBA student at Payap University, and represents the Social Enterprise of Forest Landscape in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The company helps people in the community and supports farmers to restore watershed forests. Moreover, the company creates sustainable careers through the Forest Landscape Restoration 349 (FLR 349) reforestation model (FLR349 comes from “Three Forests, Four Benefits” based on the King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s, King Rama IX of Thailand, “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy”). The project has clear actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore ecosystems to address societal challenges effectively and adaptively while simultaneously improving human well-being and providing biodiversity benefits. The planted trees will be cared for and maintained for six years. Farmers will be incentivized to switch from agrochemical monoculture towards growing perennial trees, fruit, vegetables, and herbs in a mixed agriculture system that helps restore and replenish the ecology. By developing a sustainable value chain, products from the landscape will be sold to local food and retail markets, generating income for the community and enhancing livelihoods. The student is excited to solve the case and learn about Social Enterprises and their challenges.

Make money from the dried leaf

Miss Thida K. is an MBA student at Payap University and represents the Social Enterprise of “Make money from the dried leaf” in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The business produces agricultural soil made from dried leaves to stop the wildfire smoke and reduce PM2.5 in Chiang Mai. The challenge of this business is to give inspiration to the people in communities to join this project. The student regards the Case Challenge competition as an excellent opportunity to understand the Social Enterprise and present it to the World.

Warm Heart Foundation

Miss Kantima A. is an MBA student at Payap University and represents the Social Enterprise of Warm Heart Foundation in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This business works to stop smoke and Climate Change. The business solutions are global and focus on sustainable community development in Phrao, a rural, mountainous community in Northern Thailand. The company produces Biochar for those who want Carbon credits around the World. The challenge of this business is to reduce PM2.5 and wildfire. The student regards the Case Challenge competition as an excellent opportunity to present the Thai Social Enterprise to the World.
